No Excuses, Just Examples: How Busy Parents Stay Strong
Meet Justin: The Early Bird Champion 🐓
Justin has three kids, and all three play two sports each at a time. That’s six different schedules to manage — plus work, meals, and family time. Yet, Justin still makes it to our 6 AM class 4–5 mornings a week.
He doesn’t do it because it’s convenient. He does it because he knows that once the day starts, his time is no longer his own. By getting his workout in before the world wakes up, he ensures his health doesn’t get pushed to the back burner. Let’s be honest — waking up early to work out might not be fun, but it’s a whole lot better than not doing it at all.
Justin’s story is proof that fitness isn’t about having time — it’s about making time.
For the Single Parents Out There
As a single father with twins, I understand the struggle firsthand. Managing work, kids, and personal goals can feel like a full-contact sport of its own. But that’s exactly why I’ve made my health a non-negotiable.
I attend Jiu-Jitsu three times a week and CrossFit two to three times a week. Those sessions are my reset button — time to focus, recharge, and show up better for my family.
A goal without a plan is just a wish. Our members join because they have goals, and when life gets busy they feel the goal isn't attainable, but thats not true. We just need to change the plan and continue. Quiting is the only way to not attain your goal.
Why Health Must Stay a Priority
When you drop out of your routine or step away from structured training, you don’t just lose consistency — you lose focus on the 10 foundational skills of general physical preparedness (GPP):
Cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
You might think, “I’ll just walk during my lunch break,” and while that’s great for movement, it doesn’t replace a well-rounded program. Walking or running alone only targets a small piece of the fitness puzzle — leaving major skills like strength, stamina, power, and flexibility behind.
Now, let’s do the math: three hours a week dedicated to your health is less than 2% of your total time. Even if life forces you to cut back to two or three days a week, that’s still infinitely better than stopping completely.
At Ground Zero Fitness, we take the guesswork out of the equation. You just show up — and we’ll guide you through workouts that build a complete, capable, and resilient body.
The Takeaway
You don’t need hours a day to stay healthy — you just need a plan and the discipline to follow through. Whether you’re an early riser like Justin or squeezing in sessions between soccer games and work calls, remember: your health sets the tone for everything else in your life.
Set the alarm. Grab your coffee. Show up. Because your family deserves the healthiest version of you — and so do you.
